Welcome to ShaneScribe! I’m Shane Eash and I love storytelling and history. So I thought, why not combine them and start a blog?
But first, let’s get to know one another. I’ll start.
I’ve lived in Lancaster County, PA all my life. Lancaster is known for its rich farmland soil, but it’s also rich in history. Lancaster City was even the United States Capital for one day. Now here’s my history:
Growing up, I disliked reading. Then I discovered Paul Hutchins’ The Sugar Creek Gang. I consumed his stories and other mysteries like The Hardy Boys. Mystery was all I read.
At some point, someone introduced me to historical fiction. Wait, there was another kind of book? I began reading Henty, Ballantyne, even some biographies, but things changed for good when I read Assignment: Spy by Oluf Reed Olsen.
Here was a riveting true story of a WWII spy in his own words. I was hooked. What he went through to fight against the Nazis with espionage was unbelievable. Suddenly I knew history would pervade my future. I continued reading dozens of historical fiction and biographies, and my love for history has only grown.
So that’s what this blog is about: history told through the medium of storytelling. I want to share fascinating stories like Olsen’s, and insightful facets of history from all centuries. I’ll write brief history snippets, and engaging articles, interviews, and historical fiction book reviews.
Want to come along for this journey through the past? Let’s be fascinated and inspired by history together.
Keep an eye out for my next post! Or skip the hassle and subscribe to ShaneScribe to experience history in a new way!
Till the future is history…
~Shane
